Cemetery Specialist

August 18, 2017

(Part Time–One Year Term Position–October 2017 to October 2018)

The Municipal District of Foothills No. 31, a rapidly growing rural Municipality in Southern Alberta and is inviting applications for a Cemetery Specialist, part time one year term position working 20 hours per week.

The Cemetery Specialist will provide specific duties at various cemeteries managed by the M.D. of Foothills.  The candidate will be required to liaise between bereaved families and service providers with constricted timelines in sensitive situations.  The candidate must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time including a wide range of clerical duties and out of doors tasks.  Good communication and organizational skills are necessary to be successful in this position.  This position also requires shift work and on call availability.

Recreation Facility Operator - Seasonal

August 10, 2017

The Scott Seamen Sports Rink is located in the M.D. of the Foothills No.31 and opened in November 2013. The facility boasts one NHL sized ice surface, a running track, two multipurpose rooms, concession and commercial kitchen. The facility will support local minor hockey, figure skating and various community programs. We are currently inviting applications for a seasonal Recreation Facility Operator.  

To prepare for this position, you will have obtained Arena Operator Level 1 certification, with three (3) years of experience in the arena/recreation industry.  You have highly developed interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and mechanical and maintenance skills, along with proficient computer skills.  You have a proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the community, user groups and other stakeholders.  You must possess a valid class 5 driver’s licence, First Aid/CPR certification would be considered an asset.  Your knowledge and ability to make, paint, and mark ice and operate arena equipment and machinery will help ensure your success in this position.  Candidates must be available to work shift work, including evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ice maintenance and resurfacing
  • Assist in ice installation and removal
  • Refrigeration plant checks
  • Custodial maintenance including a variety of tasks such as cleaning dressing rooms, stands, bathrooms, multi-purpose rooms, walking track and all public areas, replenishing supplies as well as, wash and wax floors as required
  • Facility maintenance including a variety of tasks such as changing lights, painting, basic carpentry, basic plumbing and grounds upkeep
  • Assist in the delivery of services in the arena facility to support the user groups and ensure the arena facility is properly maintained to provide a safe environment to the user groups and  minimize user group inconvenience
  • Develop and maintain accurate records, producing statistical reports tracking time and maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot as necessary
  • Promote positive relations with the public and provide customer service to all patrons, ensuring that public inquiries and complaints are responded to positively and quickly
